For the past few years I have done this tag on my YouTube channel, but this year I figured it might be fun to post my answers here.

Questions

1. Best book you’ve read so far.

The Grace Year by Kim Liggett

A fantastic mix of all the things I love in literature. I always think The Giver + The Hunger Games = The Grace Year

2. Best sequel you've read so far.

The Crown of Embers by Rae Carson

Every single book in this trilogy got 5 stars from me. It's so good! Twists and turns & such a cool setting.

3. New release you haven't read yet, but want to.

Home Before Dark by Riley Sager

The first book I ever read by Sager was The Last Time I Lied and it's remained my favorite. However, his stories are all so good and I consider his books auto buy at this point in time.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year.

One by One by Ruth Ware

Ruth Ware is another auto buy author of mine. I have read all of her published stuff. My favorite is Turn of the Key, but I realize not a lot of people feel that way.

5. Biggest disappointment.

The Dilemma by B.A. Paris

I can't even begin to explain how much this book let me down. I did a full video about it (check that out if you wish), but honestly I am wondering if B.A. Paris was a one-hit wonder.

6. Biggest surprise.

The Guest List by Lucy Foley

I wasn't super hyped to read this and I have never read anything by Foley before but I choose this book as my BOTM and ended up LOVING IT. Definitely one I expect to be raving about for awhile. If you ever saw that old CBS show Harper's Island and enjoyed it I think you would enjoy this book.

7. Favorite new author. (Debut or new to you)

In March I read 3 new to me authors and I ended up really enjoying the book(s) I read by them. I can't say they are favorites yet, because I haven't tried anything else by them and in the case of B.A. Paris maybe they're a one-hit wonder. But for the sake of having an answer:

The Flatshare by Beth O'Leary

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker

Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas

8. Newest fictional crush.

A certain rugged Alaskan pilot from The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker

9. Newest favorite character.

I adored Angelica (Jelly for short) from Jelly by Jo Cotterill

10. Book that made you cry.

I don't think I've had any tear jerkers so far this year.

11. Book that made you happy.

Break Your Glass Slippers by Amanda Lovelace

This poetry collection is brilliant. It means so much and I identify with it so much. I will forever be recommending this to people.

12. Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received)

Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison

I am a sucker for a beautiful cover and this cover is no exception. It was really hard to choose just one but I love how the font and color choices while simple make this cover as stunning as it is.

13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

Need? I hate to use that word because reading is a hobby. I do not get paid to read or to review so I should never feel the need. One book that was sent to me for review is Anxious People by Fredrick Backman, so maybe that one.
